CHARACTER
Name: Yufei
True Name: *dog chuffing noise*
Canon: Original
Age: 70 (His body looks 40's)
History: There's a write up Here but the synopsis is that Yufei (the human) sold his soul to a demon, and when he died drunk driving, the demons came to collect. But a curious dogman in the forest got there first because he wanted to eat the corpse. A whole lot of things went wrong when they did their soul claiming ceremony because delicate sigils and candles and blood rituals aren't designed to have a whole ass cryptid launching themselves through it and knocking everything over. The dogman ended up in the body of the human, the demons didn't get their soul, no one walked away happy from this event. (Except original Yufei who escaped his soul being snatched). So now Yufei's dead body is being used by a dogman who's not pleased with this and would very much like to get back to being a dog, even if being able to talk now is pretty cool. So is having hair, that's fun. And having the ability to think like a human instead of a creature with no real concept of the future - also rad. Okay it's about 70% bad, 30% neat.
Powers/Abilities: Eye Shine - If shined with a light source, his eyes will reflect like an animals.
Heightened Senses - He has a very sensitive nose and incredibly good hearing. Unfortunately, his vision is worse now and he can't see in the dark anymore, though he can see better than an average human in low light.
Physics is for Other People - He can leap across things without a running start, he can climb vertical surfaces as long as they're not completely smooth, he's way stronger than he should be, and he can tear things apart without much effort.
Let Me In - Like most cryptids he can't cross the threshold of someone's living space (or tent so long as it has something like a doorway) without being let in. (Either verbally or with gestures) He doesn't actually know this because he's never tried to get into someone's house and he's just convinced tents are made out of some impenetrable material he can't claw through for some reason.
Don't Call for Help - He can make electronics go to static and stop functioning.
Seek and Destroy - So long as he's gotten the smell of someone at some point in the past he can track them if they're within a mile or so and know how long it's been since they were at a specific location. Nerfing this on the boat by saying it doesn't work in the cabins so he can't just track every single passenger.
Detect Life - He can smell all living (and dead) things and tell them apart from inanimate objects immediately. For example he could identify a corpse in a room full of mannequins or fake plants versus live plants. (He's onto you 5g cell tower in the forest pretending to be a tree)
Blood of the Dead - Yufei's body doesn't have any blood in it anymore, it's been replaced with sand, and he'll leak out like an hourglass if cut. Functionally there's no visible difference when looking at him, it's only when he's damaged that the sand is apparent. Which also means he no longer produces any body heat. He's also in the body of a corpse, so he doesn't need to eat or drink or sleep. If he eats he'll throw it up eventually because he doesn't have a digestive track anymore. He doesn't naturally heal, his hair doesn't grow, and he has no heartbeat. He does breathe, because it's muscle memory, but he doesn't need to. He still feels pain, and if he's injured he'll need to go collect all his lost sand and put it back inside him to fully function again. When the sand runs out he'll die.
Inventory: Yufei's clothes (he was a hospital janitor), leatherman tool, screwdrivers, pens, bottle opener, steel toed boots, a lighter, his name badge.
Job History:
Forest Cryptid: Lurked in the periphery of hikers' vision. Stole food and items from them, left bite marks on their cars. Killed, ate, terrorized and stalked obnoxious Cryptid Hunters who tried to find his pack.
Aspiring Demon Hunter: Tracked demons through the forest, bit the crap out of them. Successfully killed a demon in one of their own summoning rituals.
Horrifically Bad Human Impersonator: Pretended to be a hiker and fooled absolutely no one. Carried on three (3) conversations with real life humans who did not suspect a thing! They did. They totally did.
Suppressions: He is trying so hard to pretend to be human because he knows that if humans find out what he is they'll kill him and he's very squishy now. Not only is trying to hide that he's a dogman, but this body is dead. Humans don't like dead things very much. He also is trying to not think about how much he's enjoying some of these human things, and if Yufei's body worked properly he might want to stay like this. He doesn't want to be a human! He wants to get back to himself!
Greatest Fear: Realizing that he might like people better than his pack.
Greatest Desire: He thinks it's to get back to the forest and his pack, but really it's to be accepted by any pack. Humans or dogs.
Greatest Regret: Not eating this guy at the car.
